La Calade and Montouliers

La Calade

The house itself is full of character with its exposed wooden beams and high ceilings. It has been sensitively renovated using reclaimed furniture (apart from the high end comfy beds – which will guarantee you a great night’s sleep)

La Calade boasts 4 large sunny bedrooms, where you’ll have plenty of room to rest and unwind. We have named our rooms after local Mediterranean grapes – Mourvèdre, Carignan, Syrah and Grenache. All have  en-suite bathrooms with top-of-the-range waterfall showers for you to relax after a day in the saddle.

There is a large loft-style lounge area, with comfy chairs and a big dining table. There is also a guest kitchen with all the facilities you need to cook dinner, make a hot drink or store your market goodies. You will also find a cupboard full of games, puzzles and books if you just want to take a breather.

Or if you haven’t had enough of our lovely Mediterranean weather head to the south-facing garden, where you can use the barbecue, or just sit and relax with a glass of wine

Down here you will also find the huge garage, where you can secure your bikes in the lockable bike racks or store all your walking gear so it’s not in your way in your bedroom. You will also find your private access and 2 parking spaces.

Your hosts, Robert and Natalie also live on site and are on hand to help with any questions you may have.

Or you can check availability or book your stay today in one of our four rooms here

Montouliers

Montouliers, ideally situated between the mountains and the Mediterranean, is a charming village with stunning, winding cobbled lanes, known as ‘la Calade’ which lead up to the 12th Century château and church. There is also a Roman fountain at the edge of the village and two wine domaines, where wine tasting is available. In the village itself is a small grocery, restaurant/bar and post office.

The village is a delightful 5 minute drive through pine forests to Bize-Minervois, with its restaurants, bars, supermarket and river, perfect for a dip as it has a life guard during the summer months. We are also only 5 minutes from the Canal de Midi at La Croisade, with its canal-side restaurant.

Narbonne, famous for its covered market, is less than 30 minutes by car as is the beautiful village of Minerve and the UNESCO World Heritage City of Carcassonne is less than an hour away.

A number of Mediterranean beaches can be reached in about 40 – 45 minutes and the Spanish border is 1.5 hours away.
